Been working on Jeremiah Rose for a few years now, with very few hints. However recently, ground has been broken, and it looks like we're onto something.
The known facts up until recently:

Born: 5 Jan, 1808
Married Margaret Vanbevers: 25 Apr 1840
Died: 9 Apr, 1880, Valley Twp, Scioto, Ohio
Children:
Abner Rose - appears to be from an earlier marriage, as he is 6 years old at the time Jeremiah married Margaret
With Margaret: John, William, James, Jane, Henry, Abigail, Anna Pauline, Abraham, Mary, George Wesley, Rebecca
About 1 year ago, I received some images from a family bible. One of the pages had these names and birthdates listed consecutively:
James Rose - April 9, 1804
Rachel Foster - Apr 28, 1806 (A Rachel Rose married William Foster in 1825 in Gallia County, Ohio)
Jeremiah Rose - Jan 5, 1808
Joel Rose - Feb 28, 1810
Jonathan Rose - Jul 15, 1812
Rhoda Rose - Apr 25, 1819
I then got busy with some other brick walls, and forgot about these bible pages. Recently, I started looking at Jeremiah again, and contacted some other researchers who had posted some queries in online message boards. We put our information together, and it seems like we may have Jeremiah's parents solved.
1840 census: Warren County, Indiana - has a James Rose and Joel Rose
James Rose died in Hamilton County, Illinois in 1859. An abstract from his obituary (found at the Tri-State Genealogical and Historical Society) states that his father died in the War of 1812 in Detroit Michigan, and that his mother died when he was 17 years old. It also states that he was born in Montgomery County, Virginia.
A Jason Rose died in 1814 during the War of 1812. He enlisted from Gallia County, Ohio. About the time that Jason Rose disappears from the tax lists, a Sarah Rose starts appearing.
1820 Census - Gallia County, Ohio - Sarah Rose, with six others in the household that match up perfectly with the names listed above.
In Pension application documents, children of Jason Rose are mentioned as being in Warren County, Indiana.
Seems like a pretty good match to me.
Some online trees show Jason Rose marrying Sarah Elswick. However, none of these trees provide any actual evidence that her maiden name was Elswick.
For Sarah's family, I'm looking to the names in her probate file. Administrator: James Romine, Securities: Philip Adkins and Masten Perkins. I'm thinking that she may be related to at least one of these 3 individuals.
I have found that:
James Romine died in Hamilton County, Illinois - same place as James Rose.
A William Rose married a Mary Adkins, who may be sister to Philip Adkins.
John Rose is there, came from Montgomery, Virginia, and is named in Sarah Rose's probate papers. Her probate also mentions Zachariah Rose and William Rose.
Many an online tree shows John Rose and Zachariah Rose as sons of Edward Rose. Now to see how Jason connects to these men. DNA tests from descendants of Jason, John and Zachariah all point to Joseph Rose of Marshfield Massachusetts.
